The City captain's signing has been made a top priority for Milan in the January transfer window and while he is eager to make the switch, reports that the Serie A side are instead proposing a loan move. The Rossoneri are willing to pay €1 million up front for the loan, but will have the option to buy him outright in the summer for around €5m.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Walker has been linked with a move away from City for some time having lost his place as a regular starter this season. He has started nine of the 15 Premier League matches he has featured in this term, while he has been limited to just two Champions League appearances. Coach Pep Guardiola confirmed recently that the full-back has asked to leave the club this month and it has even been reported that he had a private leaving party in anticipation of his imminent exit.

Milan were also linked with signing Walker's England team-mate Marcus Rashford, but rules dictate the Serie A giants can only register one British player, so they opted to strengthen at right-back instead.

WHAT NEXT FOR WALKER?
The 34-year-old's contract with City runs until 2026, meaning he could be back in the Premier League if Milan decide against signing him on a permanent basis in the summer.
